Privacy Policy

Couplay is a game-based dating app from S-Indie LabS, operated by Shailen in India. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how you stay in control. We don’t sell your data and we don’t show ads. Privacy laws may apply based on where you live and use Couplay, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and Nepal's Privacy Act, 2075 where applicable.

What we collect

Account: your email address, used to send you a sign-in code.

Profile: first name, date of birth (to check you’re 18 or over and show your age), gender, who you’d like to see, bio, interests, and city and job if you add them, plus your age-range and distance preferences.

Photos: up to 6. Your main photo is shown to others in Discover. Extra photos stay hidden unless you share them with a match.

Games: your answers in This-or-That, Rank It and Red Flag / Green Flag (used to suggest matches and draw your play profile), answers in games you play with a match, and your best Reaction Tap and Mini Sudoku scores.

Messages: what you send in chat, and, if you leave it on, when you’ve read a message and when you’re typing.

Location (only if you turn on “Show how far away I am”): an approximate position, rounded to about 1 km before it’s stored.

Notifications (only if you allow them): a device token and your app language, so we can send match, message and game alerts.

Verification (only if you choose to get verified): a selfie, and the result of the check.

Safety: people you block, reports you send or that are made about you, and what reviewers decide.

App diagnostics and usage: app version, device and operating system details, crash reports, performance timings, and key usage events such as onboarding completion, Discover results, likes or passes, matches, messages sent, and game invite responses. These events are linked to an internal account ID. We do not send your profile, photos, game answers, message contents, exact location, or other people’s IDs with them.

Who can see what

Other people see your main photo, first name, age, bio, interests, city and job if you added them, the traits you choose to show, and a match percentage. They never see your email, date of birth, exact location or the other answers behind your match.

Distance is only ever shown as a rough band (under 5 km, 5–25 km, 25+ km), never an exact spot or number, and only while you share it.

Answers in a game you play with a match, and your chat, are visible only to the two of you.

Fun scores show on your card only if you switch them on. They are never used for matching.

Your verification selfie is never on your profile or shown to other users. A reviewer checks it against your main photo, and it is deleted right after. Others only see whether you’re verified.

Reports are seen only by the people who review them. The person you report is never told who reported them.

People you block, and anyone whose account is on hold, can’t see you.

Technical diagnostics and usage events are processed by Firebase/Google for Couplay. The internal account ID is not shown to other users.

How we use it

To run the app: sign you in, show you people, suggest matches, run games and chat, and send the notifications you allowed.

To keep it safe: review reports and verification selfies, and pause accounts that break the rules.

To find and fix crashes or slow parts of the app, and understand whether key app steps are working. We use these reports and events for product reliability and improvement, not advertising.

We don’t use your data for advertising, and we don’t sell or rent it to anyone.

Services we use

We use a few providers to run Couplay. They process data only to provide their service to us:

Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in. Our project is hosted in the Asia-Pacific region.

Expo and Google Firebase: Expo helps build and deliver the app. Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers notifications; Firebase Crashlytics reports crashes; Firebase Performance Monitoring measures app performance; and Firebase Analytics measures the key usage events listed above.

Resend: sending sign-in emails.

Cloudflare: our domain and email forwarding.

Your choices

You can edit your profile, hide extra photos, hide your traits, turn off read receipts, stop sharing your location and switch off notifications at any time in Profile.

“Delete all my game answers” removes your game answers and scores.

“Delete my account” (Profile → Safety) deletes your account data from Couplay. Firebase diagnostics and usage events already collected are not individually deleted when you delete your account; they remain subject to Google’s applicable retention settings and may be included in aggregated reports. We do not keep separate account backups. Copies that may exist in Supabase’s system backups follow Supabase’s retention period and expire automatically.

How long we keep it

We keep your Couplay account data while your account exists. When you delete your account, Couplay removes it. Firebase diagnostics and usage events already collected are not individually deleted with your Couplay account and follow Google’s applicable retention settings; aggregated reports may remain. Verification selfies are deleted as soon as they’re reviewed.

Age

Couplay is only for people aged 18 or over. If we learn that someone under 18 is using it, we remove the account.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
